This is a sample / prototype copy of Mazu: Guardian of the Tides for the Famicom. This cartridge was used to test the game when we were developing it.

This was made to run some tests on the mirrored version secret.  Partway through development I discovered a discrepancy between how the version of MESEN bundled with the NESMaker program, a stand-alone version of MESEN, and my Famicom/ Famiclone were doing, and it created a lot of headaches. This was one of the tests used to check some hypotheses regarding the mirrored mode.  Also, at this point in time, I had reduced the health down to "3" hits per stage, from the original 4.  Later I ultimatley decided to put it back up to 4 hits beore it shipped.
