HouYi Shot the Suns is a demo cartridge produced by Yī tái yóuxì Software Company
for the Famicom. This game was made for the ByteOff IV game design competition in 2024. The game is loosely based on the story of Chang'e and HouYi of Chinese Mythology fame.
 
A limited number of cartridges were put together and distributed for free to friends and fans after the ByteOff IV competition was over. Originally limited to 10 pieces, the demand for the game was overwhelming and about 20 pieces were passed out, with ten others remaining.
 
These cartridges are demos - they were cobbled together using recycled game shells, sometimes with broken tabs, stickers, imperfections, etc. We only have a few of these left, and once they're gone, no more will be made, as we are now working on the next ByteOff game.
 
Your cartridge may look different than the one pictured above. These were proof of concept cartridges, and each comes with a typed sheet discussing the game.
